Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Maktib collects when you use this site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. Maktib is the data controller for that information.
What we collect
- Order information — your name, email address, postal address, and phone number, so we can take payment, ship your order, and keep you updated.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a payment reference; we never see or store your card number.
- Reviews — the name and review text you submit, plus the email address used to verify that you purchased the item. Your email address is never published.
- Technical data — basic information your browser sends when loading pages, used to keep the site working and secure.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To perform our contract with you: taking payment, fulfilling and delivering your order, and handling returns.
- For our legitimate interests: preventing fraud, moderating reviews, and keeping the site secure and functional.
- To meet legal obligations: retaining transaction records for tax and accounting purposes.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary, with providers who process data on our behalf:
- Our fulfillment partner — your name, delivery address, and phone number, so your order can be picked, packed, and shipped. Fulfillment involves warehouses outside your country, including in China.
- Whop — our payment processor, which handles your payment details directly under its own privacy policy.
- Supabase — database hosting for orders and catalog data.
- Resend — sends your order confirmation and shipping notification emails.
- Carriers — the delivery company handling your parcel.
International transfers
Because orders are fulfilled internationally, your delivery details are transferred outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your data.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as needed to support the order and to meet tax and accounting requirements, typically six to seven years. Reviews are kept while published. You can ask us to delete data that we are not legally required to retain.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and complain to your data protection authority. To exercise any of these, please contact us. We respond within one month.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will update this page and revise the date below.
